                                    Mandatory Parent Meeting Agenda

Please note the following information that was covered during the Mandatory Parent Meeting, February 21st. There are many updates about new programs coming to the school as well as various fundraising efforts, some at absolutely no cost!

                                    The Good News Program

Did you know that by recommending St. Alphonsus School and bringing in a family will earn you a one time $200 deduction off your tuition? Spread the news about Catholic Education and what St. Alphonsus School can offer your child and save money off your tuition!

$200 deduction is only applicable if the new families stay in St. Alphonsus for more than 3 months. For more information, please contact the School Office at (323) 268-5165.

                                    Turn-In Tuesdays!

So far we have earned $1,200.00 from the funds raised through our Read-A-Thon, the Apple Bee’s breakfast, and Box tops! These funds have been used to upgrade our computers and to re-wire the computer lab.

Now that we know we can earn additional funds for school improvement without selling candy or other fundraising items, we can earn them simply by collecting and donating things we have around the house!

So... bring in your empty water bottles and aluminum cans, empty ink cartridges, clothes or shoes, old cell phones, and of course continue to collect “Box Tops”. All funds raised through our donation Tuesdays will be used for more improvements such as “School Reach” – the automated phone notification system, and much more. The more you give, the more we’re able to improve our school!
                                    • BOX TOPS: The class competitions may have ended, but that doesn't mean we're still not collecting these useful little box pieces. We will have another Box Tops Battle soon, so keep on collecting!
                                    • DONATE USED CLOTHING AND SHOES: Donate your used clothing and shoes to PlanetAid, who either recycle or process, bundle, then sell them to exporters who make clothes at low costs to lesser developed regions on the world. This provides an affordable alternative to newly manufactured items in addition to creating jobs. St. Alphonsus gets a few cents for every pound or so of clothing in our big yellow bin outside the Big Yard gate. Not only do you help the our school, but you also help our environment and our global economy. For more information on PlanetAid, you can visit their website at planetaid.org.
                                    • RECYCLE YOUR CANS: Every Friday, we will begin to collect alunimum cans from each class. Each grade that brings in the most will receive a prize!
                                    • RECYCLE YOUR INK AND CELLPHONES : You may bring old used ink cartridges and old cell phones for recycling to our Office at any time. All proceeds from recycling help St. Alphonsus.
